Gates' charges dropped →
The police declare that this should not tarnish their reputation. ha.
Even if it had to take something happening to himself to come to the realization, I’m glad Gates is now inclined to make a documentary. His talent and reputation should make it go bring it some needed attention.
UPenn partners with the Posse Foundation →
First Ivy League school to do so. We recommended this a few years back at NU, but our school was too hell-bent on retaining it’s ‘elite’ nature to entertain us. Maybe now that a better school has made that move, we’ll follow suit… but then again, probably not.
Effing incinerator in Detroit →
This damn incinerator has been a visual and aromatic blight on the city for too long. Even more importantly, I’m sure asthma is just one of many illnesses this thing is amplifying in the surrounding neighborhood. The city is already in tremendous debt, so of course no one wants a lawsuit, but what’s the tradeoff of leaving this thing there for another 10 years?
Henry Louis Gates, Jr. arrested last week →
I’ve been a little late on the news. This is both ridiculous and not-surprising.

GM: 'We're not going back' →
The new GM, which bought the best assets of General Motors Corp. and changed its name to General Motors Co., is 60.8% owned by U.S. taxpayers, with 11.7% owned by the Canada and Ontario governments. The United Auto Workers’ retiree medical benefits trust owns 17.5%, with the remaining 10% owned by the old GM, now known as Motors Liquidation. That stake, plus the remnants of what’s left...
EbonyJet article on Vibe possibly coming back →
Interested to see how Jone’s business acumen which made him part owner of the 70s, 80s and 90s will translate into this century. If Vibe was doing well online already, where’s the new angle?
How many other companies… and how many other industries… are going to die before this recession is over? And can they come back? I genuinely believe (no pew research data here) that...

Berry Gordy statement on Michael Jackson passing
I am shocked beyond words. It’s like a dream - a bad dream. This cannot be! How can Michael Jackson not be here? As a kid, Michael was always beyond his years. He had a knowingness about him that was incredible. When I first heard him sing Smokey’s song, “Who’s Lovin’ You” at 10 years’ old, it felt like he had lived the song for 50 years. Somehow, even at...
